What’s the oldest thing you own that you still use daily?
The oldest thing I own that I use daily is my alarm clock. It’s a vintage clock that I inherited from my Ato (grandpa) and it’s so old that it doesn’t have any snooze button. The sound it makes in the morning is like an angry rooster who drank too much coffee. I swear, if my neighbors heard it, they would think it’s a ship horn or a siren. But despite its ancient and obnoxious sound, it gets the job done. I never oversleep with it, although it has definitely scared the living daylights out of me a few times. I like to think that it’s infused with some sort of magical power that allows it to wake me up without fail….even on the most groggy and grumpy mornings. It’s become a staple in my life – a reminder of my Ato and a testament to the enduring power of technology that refuses to die.
That’s really nice. I too have a clock given to me by my maternal grandmother, it no longer works, but I love it.
