The Grass is Always Greener on the other side.

What do you wish you could do more every day?

I’ve always been a bit of a homebody.  Curling up with a good book or spending a cozy night in with friends and family is my happy place.  But lately, I’ve been feeling a strange urge to break free from my routine and experience more of the world.

It might sound strange coming from someone who loves a good Netflix binge, but here are 3 things I wish I could do more often:

Embrace the Unknown:  My life is pretty predictable. I know my favorite coffee shop order, my preferred walking route, and exactly how long it takes me to get anywhere.  Lately, I’ve been craving some spontaneity.  Imagine hopping on a last-minute train to a new city, with no itinerary and nowhere to be!  Just the thought of getting lost (in a good way) and exploring somewhere completely new sends a thrill down my spine.

Sweat a Little:  Okay, maybe not too much. But I confess, I do envy people who can get outside and get their heart rate up.  There’s something so satisfying about pushing yourself physically, whether it’s conquering a challenging hike or mastering a new yoga pose.   Maybe it’s the endorphins, or maybe it’s the feeling of accomplishment, but I definitely need to find a way to incorporate more movement into my life.

Disconnect to Reconnect:  I’ll admit it, I’m glued to my phone.  Social media, news updates, even that silly cat video – it all seems to suck me in.  But lately, I’ve been feeling a disconnect from the real world around me.  I miss those long conversations with friends, the uninterrupted flow of reading a book, or simply being present in the moment without the constant digital buzz.   I need to find a way to power down and truly reconnect with the world (and the people) around me.

These are just a few things that have been on my mind lately.  Maybe it’s a mid-life crisis (yikes!) or maybe it’s just a natural human desire to grow and experience new things.
