If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be, and why?

Women vs Men

I would love to experience life as a man in a patriarchal society where I wouldn’t have to worry about being catcalled or harassed on the streets.

Instead of constantly strategizing how to walk through unsafe spaces, I could freely walk around without fear.

I could pursue my ambitions without being questioned or underestimated based on my gender.

Privilege sounds delightful—I wouldn’t have to constantly defend my capabilities against sexist stereotypes and expectations.

Oh! … and if I could also get paid more for doing the same job as a woman that would be the cherry on top of this male privilege sundae.

Privileges of being a man in a patriarchal society –

1. Higher Pay: On average, men still receive higher salaries for the same work compared to women.
2. Career Advancement: Men often have more opportunities for career advancement and are more likely to be promoted to leadership positions.
3. Less Household Labor: Men typically have fewer responsibilities for household chores and childcare compared to women.
4. Personal Safety: Men are not as concerned about personal safety when walking alone, as they are less likely to be victims of violence or harassment.
5. Dress Code: Men have more freedom in their clothing choices, as they face fewer restrictions and judgments based on their attire.
6. No Periods: Men do not have to deal with the physical and emotional challenges of menstruation each month.
7. Body Image Pressure: Men face less pressure regarding their physical appearance and are less likely to experience body shaming.
8. Emotional Expression: Men are often given more leeway in expressing emotions and are not judged as harshly for showing vulnerability.
9. Parental Rights: Men generally have more control and decision-making power in co-parenting situations and custody battles.
10. Aging: Men are often perceived as becoming more distinguished and attractive as they age, whereas women are often judged more critically for the effects of aging on their appearance.
