If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?

Communication can be quite complex. Sometimes, what we think is a clear and concise message might actually be confusing or frustrating for the person receiving it. Therefore I think the following words  should not be used.

1. FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) – encourages comparison and anxiety, promotes materialism and unnecessary consumption.

2. Cancel Culture – promotes division, creates a hostile environment for open dialogue and learning from mistakes.

3. Conspiracy – often used to dismiss genuine concerns and silence dissenting opinions, stifling important discussions.

4. Offensive – frequently used to shut down conversations instead of discussing perspectives and finding common ground.

5. Normative – often misused as a means to silence differing perspectives, perpetuating a lack of inclusivity and diversity of thought.

6. Overrated – promotes negativity and dismisses the value and efforts of others.

7. Problematic – often used without constructive criticism or solutions, dismissive of complex issues.

8. Triggered – used to mock or dismiss others’ genuine emotional responses, creating an environment of invalidation.

9. Snowflake – dismisses genuine concerns and emotions, contributing to a lack of empathy and understanding.

10. Divisive – often used to dismiss differing perspectives or to stifle discussions, perpetuating division and lack of understanding.
