What personal belongings do you hold most dear?
I have a confession to make, friends. I’m a bit of a hoarder when it comes to personal belongings. It’s impossible for me to throw anything away that has even the slightest sentimental value. And so, our house is filled with a variety of trinkets that bring back memories both good and bad.
Here are a few that I hold especially dear…
The one item that stands out the most is my hiking boots. These boots have traversed countless mountains, hiked through vast forests, and trudged through murky swamps. They’ve become every bit as much a part of me as my own two feet and feel like they carry within them a part of every adventure of the past.
Also, I treasure my vintage Pez dispenser collection. Yes, I said Pez dispensers. Call me a nerd if you like, but there’s something about those candy-filled heads that brings a smile to my face. Each dispenser relates to pop culture icons from my childhood such as Darth Vader, Mickey Mouse, and even E.T.! I could spend hours admiring their colorful packaging and flicking their little heads to dispense the candy.
Lastly, and perhaps the most sentimental item on this list… is a photograph of my grandparents on their wedding day. They were a beautiful couple and always seemed so much in love. It’s a black and white image that my mother gave me and every detail in it makes me feel like I’m getting a small glimpse at their love story. Nothing beats the nostalgia of old photographs!
While we may have many personal belongings… only a few have the power to evoke specific emotions and memories in us. These items can be as simple as a pair of shoes or as special as a family heirloom. But to us, they are all priceless treasures that remind us of the people.. places.. and moments that make our lives unique and wonderful.
