In my kitchen, pots and pans,
Ingredients measured out by hand.
A recipe book lying clear –
All set to make a gourmet cuisine, oh dear!

But as I stir and knead and mix,
Disaster strikes like a candle’s wick;
The oven’s light, a beacon of doom,
A kitchen catastrophe unfolding soon.

First, the smoke alarm, like a banshee’s scream,
The smell of burning a cook’s worst dream.
I rush to the oven like a frenzied bee~
The cake, a blackened, charred entity.

The rice, like concrete, a culinary crime,
The sauce, like lava, hot enough to mime.
My kitchen, a war zone, a mess,
My cooking skills, now a horrid guess.

The soup spills, like a waterfall cascade,
My apron stained, my ego now afraid.
The garlic’s burnt, the chicken raw,
My culinary adventure, a complete faux pas.

But as I sit, with a burnt-out heart,
A sudden thought, a brand new start.
It’s not the end, a chef’s reprise,
A second chance to make it right, so arise.
So I finally order pizza, and take a seat;
A culinary adventure, now complete…
